Austin, Texas, April 19, 2021 — On May 3-7 2021, more than 70 leaders of national and global construction firms will come together for the eighth consecutive year and join Construction Safety Week 2021, to inspire and engage everyone in the industry to be leaders in safety. Safety Week is an annual initiative, bringing people together to celebrate accomplishments and to demonstrate the industry’s continued commitment to building and sustaining a stronger, safer construction industry.
Over the course of the week, thousands of people around the world will engage in activities promoting safety in the workplace. This year's theme is holistic safety - looking beyond one’s physical wellbeing on the job to include their mental and psychological health. Holistic health plays a vital role in people’s relationships with their team members; bringing their safest, most productive, best selves to work every day. During Safety Week, JMJ will share insights, tools and encourage critical conversation across its social media platforms to provoke new thinking and ideas for workplace and personal safety.
“Safety Week is a fantastic initiative to raise awareness of the construction industry’s collective commitment to workplace safety and eliminating injuries. It is also a great opportunity to reflect on your own individual safety leadership journey” says JMJ Consultant Kelli Bettenhausen. “Leaders can and should ask themselves, ‘Am I creating a psychological safe environment in which every person is mutually respected and is empowered to speak up?"
As a founding member, JMJ is honored to support this incredible annual initiative. JMJ's goal is to lead every industry towards the elimination of worker injury, in all its forms by creating safe environments and behaviors. JMJ is proud of the many leaders who joined forces and came together with the shared core value and the belief that injuries are not part of doing business.
JMJ client Gayle Packer, President and CEO of Terracon states, “With all that has occurred the past year, Holistic Safety is a very relevant theme for Safety Week 2021. This year taught us that safety for Terracon employees and their families is both physical and mental. We look forward to highlighting mental health, emotional fatigue, and other subjects that may not arise in our everyday conversations and celebrate our teams for their commitment to our unwavering safety culture.”
