AUSTIN, TEXAS, September 16, 2013—On September 20, 2013, JMJ Global Client Manager Billy Gibbons and ITSI Safety and Health Manager, T.J Lyons will be featured at Engineering News Record’s (ENR) first ever Risk and Compliance Summit in New York City at McGraw Hill Headquarters.
The Gibbons and Lyons session will explore a series of questions such as “Why and What Can Be Done About the Stubbornly High Fatality Rate?” and “Are Statistics and Behavior Approaches to Safety Overshadowing On-Site Inspections?” They will further explore the broader topic of safety throughout the session, sharing their examples, experiences, challenges and ideas. ENR’s Safety Editor Richard Korman will moderate the discussion.
The session is scheduled for 2.20 p.m. to 3.10 p.m.
“If we are serious about solving problems like our industry’s plateaued fatality rate, it is going to require new ways of thinking about these problems,” says Billy Gibbons. “I am excited to share some of our thinking at JMJ that we believe will transform the way we think, not just about safety, indeed, how we think about business entirely.”
ENR’s Risk and Compliance Summit, titled “Managing Risk for Greater Awards,” will forge a cohesive idea of construction risk control at a time when new and changing risks are revolutionizing the construction industry. Industry leaders will assess the importance of various risks, how to measure and control them and explain how the risks may change in the years ahead. Individual sessions will be devoted to project-related failures, managing the workforce safely and in compliance with regulations, avoiding the trap of over-anticipating one kind of risk while failing to see another developing risk.
