Position Summary

JMJ is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Americas accounting team located in Austin, TX. This position will have responsibilities across all aspects of our accounting function including general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. The Senior Accountant will work under the direction of the Controller with a focus on ensuring that internal and external customers receive exemplary service while ensuring that financial records are prepared accurately in a timely manner.

Expectations of the Position

Ideal candidate will have 5+ years of prior accounting experience and a solid ability to perform the full accounting cycle, a high level of attention to detail while understanding the bigger picture implications, ability to learn and adapt to rapidly changing business environment, and a strong ability to partner and collaborate across functional teams and geographies. Project accounting knowledge and/or experience a plus.

General Responsibilities

• Assist with year-end accounts preparation and liaise with external auditors and ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS and UK GAAP, where applicable
• Support transaction processing to ensure timely and accurate delivery and recording
• Preparation and review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statements
• Create and maintain monthly closing files (including the deferred revenue schedule), ensure that monthly pre-close and close activities are performed accurately and timely
• Ensure appropriate, adequate controls are in place and operating effectively
• Train and coach less senior Accounting staff members
• Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to processes and controls environment
• Ad-hoc analysis and special projects as needed

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA preferred
• 5+ years previous experience in all aspects of an accounting organization including AR, AP, deferred revenue and account reconciliations
• Familiar with standard financial concepts, practices and procedures
• Able to demonstrate the ability to work through complex reconciliations
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications is essential
• Previous experience with Epicor Financials is a plus
• Previous experience with an international operations a plus
