For data to be effective, the analytics team within an organization must create insights to solve the relevant safety leadership challenges of the company. That said, what are the factors does a data team needs to improve to transform their organization's effectiveness?

Here are the six criteria to keep in mind:

1. Is high-quality data available? This helps scope out the feasibility of a project's success or failure.
2. What is the frequency the data is occurring? Some projects only happen once while others are recurring.
3. What are the interdependencies of the project? Are there any overlaps or synergies between a project you're managing and another project that is occurring in the same organization?
4. What are the timelines of the project you are managing? When should you cut off the flow of new data to study?
5. Understand the non-financial benefits to the data your project will produce? These non-tangible benefits can include customer and worker satisfaction, for example.
6. What is the volatility of the data you are collecting? All data has a nominal shelf life to remain relevant to the goals of your organization.
